Position: Operations Geologist
Black Spruce Exploration Corp. (BSE) is an exploration and production company with property rights, licenses and interests in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The company has the mandate to determine the best methodology for safely extracting hydrocarbons from these reserves and is committed to responsibly developing the immense energy resources in Western Newfoundland. As operator, BSE meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements and adheres to industry best practices.
The specific responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following: To ensure provision of consistent, detailed and integrated geoscience interpretations; to work with BSE geophysicist and reservoir engineer to ensure reservoir models are constructed accurately and at the appropriate level of detail, incorporating structural, stratigraphic and reservoir characterisation; to contribute towell planning efforts; provide sound geoscience input to ensure safe and cost effective data acquisition in drilling programs; liaison for operations at the wellsite, quality control and reporting of geologic aspects of drilling including composite logs and end of well reporting; and conduct geologic field mapping.
B.Sc., in Earth Sciences, P.Geo (registered with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists, Newfoundland and Labrador); minimum of 10 years experience in the oil and gas industry and knowledge of the geology of Western Newfoundland; ability to conduct fieldwork; computer literacy; petrel experience is considered an asset.
BSE offers a competitive compensation package. Relocation may be considered for this position.
